Promote the Experiences and Attractions Honoring the Impact and Influence of Black Culture

Despite its rich depth and breadth of black history, African American experiences were among the least recognized features in the city amongst visitors surveyed, likely due to limited awareness and knowledge of what’s on offer in the destination. To heighten the visibility of existing assets and to encourage visitors to spend time exploring the City’s Black history and culture across various museums, monuments/sites, and Black-owned businesses, Pittsburgh will need to invest in marketing campaigns and visitor incentive programs that lower barriers to participation for visitors.
