Improve Industry Knowledge and Resources of Inclusive Services

To create a welcoming destination for LGBTQIA travelers, it is critical for VisitPITTSBURGH and its partners across the industry to first build knowledge and skills internally of inclusive and safe practices in hospitality. Common challenges reported by queer travelers nationally include guest association stereotypes and assumptions of pronouns or misgendering. Tackling these issues will require partnerships with cultural awareness and DEI experts with established curricula and resources, as well as commitment from internal staff and frontline employees who are often the first points of contact for many queer travelers.
