Promote the Newly Defined Pop District
The Warhol Museum, located on the North Shore of Pittsburgh and one of four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, holds the most extensive permanent collection of art and archives from the native pop art icon Andy Warhol. Since its opening in 1994, it has grown not only as a cultural destination but an economic engine and educational hub – offering K-12 programs and training for teachers and arts educators and supporting nearly 100 jobs on-site. In its next phase, the institution plans to extend its programs and offerings beyond its four walls and into the district at-large with a facility expansion that includes “a new 40,000SF live performance and event facility, a six square- block public art initiative, and a scalable workforce development program focused on creative economy training for diverse, regional youth.” This new arts campus will serve to reinforce Pittsburgh’s identity as a cultural destination and drive new excitement to the City’s North Shore.
