Grow Diverse Sporting Events

Pittsburgh’s identity as a sports city can be augmented by providing opportunities to enhance current participatory facilities and capitalize on the growing sports tourism market as well as encourage active and healthy residents. The city lacks multi-court and multisport spaces for youth and senior sports. Short one or two-day sports tournaments currently hosted at the DLCC require multiple build-out days to install proper flooring, which limits the number of other events the DLCC can host. At this time, Highmark Stadium presents a unique opportunity for smaller, emerging sports events to grow in Pittsburgh – the facility is a 5,000 seat outdoor stadium with accessibility by public transit.
