Enhance Connectivity Between Sports & Entertainment Districts

Pittsburgh’s two sports and entertainment districts sit on opposite sides of the downtown core and cultural district, and are also separated by the Allegheny River and two freeways. The Northside district has Acrisure Stadium, PNC Park, Carnegie Science Center, Rivers Casino, and StageAE. The Lower Hill district to the east has PPG Paints Arena and plans for additional mixed-use development including an indoor concert venue. The current Metro system stops short of the Lower Hill district with the I-579 freeway separating the Steel Plaza stop with PPG Paints Arena, and it does not connect to nightlife offerings in the South Side Flats. Increased connectivity through the downtown to surrounding districts will support the restaurant, retail, and other visitor amenities, and offer a complete experience for visitors.
